Almost 30 years ago I released Making Money Made Simple which has sold over 2 million copies, and changed the lives of many people who read it. This was followed by a succession of other books all written with the aim of helping people to realise their potential. Now, at the age of 76, one of the greatest pleasures I have is receiving emails which come almost every week telling me that one of my books has changed a life.

The two below are typical. They have been abridged for easier reading.

First an email:

Thank you for your book The Beginners Guide to Wealth. As a 25 year old I have been truly inspired to become a respected name in the finance industry like yourself, helping educate others in regards to money and self-motivation. I only hope at least once a day you step back from what you’re doing and remember that you have made such a positive impact on many people’s lives on this earth.

moneytinJust before I bought your book I bought a large money box to put my spare silver in each day. It was one of those money boxes which have an Australian note printed on the outside and in trying to decide which one to get I picked up the $100 note money box as most people get, because it is the highest currency. I then looked at the $50 note money box and purchased it to remind myself every day when I put change in it that when I finally find wealth I don’t have to have the $100 notes to be happy. There is more fulfilment in giving to people in need than flashing hundreds around.

I have saved nearly $70,000 in 4 years on a yearly salary of around $36,000 from my part time retail job.

Thank you again for the opportunity to learn from you and for being such a positive role model to all of us young people in Australia and around the world.

Second – a letter on Harvard Business School stationery:

I am writing to say a big thank you for the positive influence that you have had on my life. As I sit here today I have a great family, a terrific job, and a nice house. A lot of it has to do with your books that I started reading almost 20 years ago.

When I started university, I had little knowledge of money-management and your books were a starting point for me to become engrossed in the subject. Thank you so much for showing me how to manage my personal finances as well as the benefits of continual learning, formal education and taking a healthy balanced approach to life. Your teachings have been invaluable.
