Legislative risk

Legislative risk

“Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash.” – George Patton

This is a fancy term that means all investment decisions carry the risk that the Government may change the laws. Remember May 1985 when Paul Keating limited negative gearing. One of the main strategies that is open to legislative risk is superannuation which is why I always advise young people not to place money in superannuation where they may lose access to it for 30 years or more.
