Credit cards – your worst enemy

Credit cards – your worst enemy

“A credit card is an anaesthetic, which simply delays the pain.” – Helen Mason

Credit cards are certainly convenient – just try to book a rental car or check into a hotel without one. But the problem with credit cards is that they encourage us to overspend. If you have to take a $100 note out of your wallet to pay for an item, you may feel real pain as you hand it over but you’re unlikely to feel too involved when your credit card is swiped through a machine for a $100 purchase. Of course, when the credit card statement arrives at the end of the month, you’d be amazed at how much you’ve spent.
